ANCIENT MONUMENTS PRESERVATION (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 1962
ORDINANCE NO. XXXIII OF 1962

An Ordinance further to amend the Ancient Monuments Preservation ct, 1904.
WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, 1904 (VII of 1904), for the purpose hereinafter appearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, in pursuance of the Proclamation of the seventh day of October, 1958, and in exercise of all powers enabling him in that behalf, the President is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-
1. Short title and commencement.__(1) This Ordinance may be called the Ancient Monuments Preservation (Amendment) Ordinance, 1962.
(2) It shall come into force at once and shall be deemed to have taken effect on the twenty-third day of March, 1956.
2. Insertion of new section IA, Act VII of 1904. In the Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, 1904 (VII of 1904.), hereinafter referred to as the said Act, after section 1, the following new section IA shall be inserted, namely:-
“1A. Declaration.-It is hereby declared that the ancient monuments to which this Act relates are ancient and historical monuments of national importance.”
3. Validation, etc. Anything done, action taken, rule made or notification issued under the said Act on or after the twenty-third day of March, 1956, and before the promulgation of this Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done, taken, made or issued under the said Act as amended by this Ordinance, and shall have, and shall be deemed always to have had, effect accordingly.
