PUNJAB CONSOLIDATION OF HOLDINGS (AMENDMENT)

An Ordinance further to amend the Punjab Consolidation of Holdings Ordinance, 1960.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Punjab Consolidation of Holdings Ordinance, 1960 (VI of 1960), in the manner hereinafter appearing;
And whereas the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab is dissolved and the Governor is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary to take immediate action.
And whereas under Article 4 of the Provisional Constitution (Amendment) Order No.9 of 1999, as amended by the Chief Executive Order No. 11 of 2000, the Governor of a Province may issue and promulgate an Ordinance.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Governor of the Punjab, is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Ordinance may be called the Punjab Consolidation of Holdings (Amendment) Ordinance, 2001.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 14th day of August, 2001.
2. Amendment in section 2 of Ordinance VI of 1960.- In the said Ordinance, in section 2-
(i) Clause (c) shall be substituted by the following:-
“(c) “Collector” means Collector appointed under the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1967 (XVII of 1967) and includes any other officer specially empowered by the Board of Revenue to perform the functions of a Collector;”.
(ii) Clause (d) shall be substituted by the following:-
“(d) “Executive District Officer (Revenue)” means the Executive District Officer (Revenue) of a District and includes any other officer specially empowered by the Board of Revenue to perform the functions of an Executive District Officer (Revenue) under this Ordinance;”.
3. Amendment in section 11 of Ordinance VI of 1960.- In the said Ordinance, in section 11 the word “Commissioner” wherever occurring shall be substituted by the words and brackets “Executive District Officer (Revenue)”.
4. Amendment in section 13 of Ordinance VI of 1960.- In the said Ordinance.
(i) in sub section (2) of section 13 the words “A Commissioner” shall be substituted by the words and brackets “An executive District Officer (Revenue)”;
(ii) in sub section (3) of section 13 the word “Commissioner” shall be substituted by the words and brackets “Executive District Officer (Revenue)”; and
(iii) in sub section (4) of section 13 the words “a Commissioner” shall be substituted by the words and brackets “an Executive District Officer (Revenue)”.
