An ordinance further to amend the Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conversation and Management) Act, 1974.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Act, 1974 (II of 1974), for the purposes hereinafter appearing;
And Whereas under Article 4 of the Provisional Constitution (Amendment) Order No. 9 of 1999, as amended by the Chief Executive Order No. 11 of 2000, the Governor of a Province may issue and promulgate an Ordinance;
Now, therefore, in exercise of aforesaid powers and all other powers enabling him in that behalf the Governor of the Punjab is pleased to make and promulgate the following Ordinance:-
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Ordinance may be called the Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and management) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2002.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment in section 5 of Act II of 1974.- In the said Act in section 5-
(i) sub-section (5) shall be substituted by the following –
“(5) Minister-in-charge of the Forestry, Wildlife, Fisheries and Tourism Department shall be the ex-officio Vice Chairman of the Board”; and
(ii) sub-section (7) shall be substituted by the following –
“(7) Secretary to Government Forestry, Wildlife, Fisheries and Tourism Department shall be the ex-officio Secretary of the Board”.
3. Amendment in section 36 of Act II of 1974.- In the said Act, in section 36 after the word “the” occurring for the third time, the words “District Magistrate” shall be substituted by the words “Sessions Judge”.
