SECOND CAPITAL OF THE REPUBLIC (DETERMINATION OF AREA) ACT, 1969

An Act to determine the area of the Second Capital of the Republic at Dacca.

whereas it is expedient to determine the area of the Second Capital of the Republic at Dacca;

and whereas clause (3) of Article 211 of the Constitution provides that there shall be a Second Capital of the Republic at Dacca in the Province of East Pakistan ;

and whereas clause (4) of the said Article provides that the area of the Second Capital shall be determined by the Central Legislature;

It is hereby enacted as follows :—

1. Short Title. This Act may be called the Second Capital of the Repub­lic (Determination of Area) Act, 1969.

2.  Area of the second capital.  The area specified in the Schedule measuring 623 acres or thereabout within the district of Dacca in the Province of East Pakistan shall be the area of the Second Capital of the Republic.

 

THE

SCHEDULE

North.—On the north it is bounded by the village Kafrul and Barab. The north boundary starts from the junction of the west boundary of Dacca Airport, Tejgaon and south-east of village Kafrul and running to the west meets the Dacca-Aricha Road (Mirpur Road) on the west.

West.—On the west it is bounded by the Dacca-Aricha Road (Mirpur Road). From the junction of the north bundary with Dacca-Aricha Road (Mirpur Road) it moves souths wards along the east side of the road and ends at the north­west corner of the Dhanmondi Government Boys High School.

South.—On the south it is bounded by the Dhanmondi Government Boys High School, Jute Research Institute land and Indira Road of mauza Tejteri Bazar. It starts from the Dacca-Aricha Road on north-west corner of Dhanmondi Government   Boys High School   and runs   towards east to the end of the boundary of Jute Research Institute ;

it then runs to the south and meets with the boundary of Tele­phone and Telegraph Buildings and it then follows by the north­ern side of the Indira Road and meets with the Dacca-Mymen-singh Road at the south-east corner.

East.—On the east it is bounded by the Dacca-Mymensingh Road, Dacca-Agricultural Laboratory, Manipuripara of mauza Tejteri Bazar and Dacca Airport, Tejgaon. The east boun-i dary starts from the junction of Indira Road and Dacca-Mymen­singh Road and moves to the north up to the south boun­dary of Dacca Agricultural Laboratory and then takes a turn to west from the Dacca-Mymensingh Road. It then runs on the south of the Agricultural Research Laboratory to the West. At the end of Laboratory south compound, it takes a right angled turn towards north keeping Laboratory compound, Mani­puripara, Tejteri Bazar and Dacca Airport on the right (east) and meets the north boundary at junction of village Kafrul and Dacca Airport west boundary.
