NORTHERN AREAS LEGAL PRACTITIONERS
AND BAR COUNCILS ORDER, 2000
An Order to extend and apply the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973

S.R.O. 687(I)/2000, dated 21-9-2000.—Whereas it is expedient to amend and apply the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973 (XXXV of 1973), to Northern Areas, for the purpose hereinafter appearing;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17B of the Northern Areas Council Legal Framework Order, 1994, the Government of Pakistan is pleased to make the following Order:-
1. Short title, extent and commencement.-(l) This Order may be] called the Northern Areas Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Order, 2000,
(2) It extends to the whole of Northern Areas.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
2. Adaptation and enforcement of the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973.- The Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973, (XXXV of 1973), as in force in Pakistan immediately before the commencement of this Order, and all rules, notification and order issued thereunder are adapted and shall, as far as practicable, apply and be in force in Northern Areas, subject to modifications and in its application shall have effect as if reference therein-
(a) To “Provincial Government” were references to the Government of Northern Areas;
(b) To “High Court” were a reference to the “Chief Court, Northern Areas”; and
(c) To “Chief Justice” were a reference to “the Chairman, Chief Court, Northern Areas”
