An Act further to amend the Registration Act, 1908

No. PAP/Legis-2(193)/2018/1773. The Registration (Second Amendment) Bill, 2018, having been passed by the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab on May 16, 2018, and assented to by the Governor of the Punjab on May 21, 2018, is hereby published as an Act of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab.
It is necessary further to amend the Registration Act, 1908 for purposes of regulation and supervision of the profession of conveyance writing and to provide penalty for the persons who engage themselves in conveyance writing without valid enrolment or license.
Be it enacted by Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as follows:
1. Short title and commencement.–(1) This Act may be cited as the Registration (Second Amendment) Act, 2018.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment in Section 69 of Act XVI of 1908.–In the Registration Act, 1908 (XVI of 1908), hereinafter referred to as ‘the Act’, in Section 69, in sub-section (1), after clause (c), the following new clause (cc) shall be inserted:
“(cc) regulating and supervising the profession of conveyance writing;”.
3. Insertion of Section 81A in Act XVI of 1908.–In the Act, after Section 81, the following new Section 81-A shall be inserted:
“81-A. Penalty for engagement as conveyance writer without valid enrolment or license.–Whoever engages himself as conveyance writer without valid enrolment or license shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months but which shall not be less than ten days and with fine which may extend to two hundred thousand rupees but which shall not be less than fifty thousand rupees.”.
